At City Hall with all the women elected to serve # At City Hall with all the women elected to serve #MetroCouncilNash as a Council Member At-Large.

All of these ladies won a countywide race, and the runoff election marks the first time all five at-large seats are filled by women and that women are the majority of the larger Council body.

Congratulations to all the women who had the courage to run for public office, even if you did not prevail, and to those who won their election to represent #Nashville

Thank you, Nashville! We did it! Together 45,812 N Thank you, Nashville! We did it! Together 45,812 Nashvillians voted for a change in vice mayoral leadership, and 3,804 voters all across our city made the difference. I am very grateful for the confidence placed in me via this election.

Many in local politics counted me out in this race, thinking I could not defeat an entrenched incumbent with two decades of accumulated name recognition.

I’ve told several women over recent years to run the race that scares you but you know in your heart you can win. Run your race for the right reasons—to fix a systemic problem(s), to do the job better, to serve others more than yourself, and if someone tells you that you should “wait your turn” or run a different race, as I was told, then use that as fuel for your fire. Be passionate in your politics & public service. Complacency never achieved the changes a city or state or our nation needs.

My heartfelt gratitude & admiration to every member of our awesome, scrappy campaign team!! We did so much work these last six months, and we did it on a shoestring. Our every-day, all-hours, all-corners efforts across this HUGE 526-square-mile county combined with my eight years of countywide policy work for neighborhoods, infrastructure, our environment & a solid record of service to my own council district proved a winning combination. We canvassed, we called, we texted, and we did it all together!

This has been both an exhausting & energizing journey. People power beat crony power in this election, and I will not take this hard-fought victory for granted. Thank you very much again to my team, my family, & to Nashville. Time to get to work! #angieforvicemayor #MetroCouncilNash #nashville

Good to see @tirrcvotes getting out the vote for #VoteTogether on the last day of early voting! Party at the polls! This summer we’ve been from @caneridgecommunityclub for a potluck to @lakeshorechristian for a candidates forum, and many more stops and doors in between. It’s been good to talk with folks about the challenges and opportunities in the fastest growing corner of our county.
