As your next Vice Mayor, I pledge to

 

  • Be a strong voice for ALL the people of Nashville. An effective leader seeks out diverse perspectives and listens closely to understand complex problems. Our city and citizens have been through rough times in recent years. As your vice mayor, I will always speak up for you and for the truth.
  • Be informed and keep you informed. As your vice mayor, I will do my research and follow legislation closely. I will operate openly and communicate effectively with council members and the Nashvillians whom we represent. It’s your government. We must be helpful and transparent.
  • Be prepared, accessible, and act with integrity. The vice mayor is the president of the Metro Council–the city’s legislative branch. Our city needs a vice mayor who is kind, fair, and capable and with the temperament to listen and lead.
  • Be engaged and encourage good ideas. I’ve spent the last 8 years on Council listening to and working with constituents from across the city and collaborating with diverse populations to find solutions and help implement community goals and ideas.
  • Be a responsible steward of your tax dollars and resources. My Council record as a member of the Budget & Finance and the Transportation & Infrastructure committees speaks for itself. As vice mayor, I will continue to ask the hard questions to ensure that your government is working for you as effectively as possible.
